THE RIABI HEADMASTER WATERDUMPLE SCANDAL
Riabi (real name Rilee Biagiotti) and Headmaster Waterdumple (real names Headmaster and Waterdumple) are are titans in the music industry, with Riabi being on the forefront of the prog-rock pop-blink fusion scene, and Headmaster Waterdumple being legendarily diverse with their music lineup, never doing the same genre twice for an album. I’ve been lucky enough to see Headmaster Waterdumple live, and they freaking ROCK.They’re pretty much second only to Neo King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard in the diversity of their set lists, and I could listen to their 2094 album “DOOM Returnal” (a video game rock fusion track) until I die, it shreds so hard. Total Rise of the Triad Remake OST vibes, with some Returnal OST and DOOM Eternal OST inspiration, obviously. As for their singles, Honeycomb Heatstroke and Aegistalk are some of their best. Highly recommend listening to those two tracks AT LEAST.
Riabi is no slouch either— I’ve heard some of her songs on the radio, and while she doesn’t quite have enough edge to interest me, I won’t deny that Government Paradoxical and Into U are catchy tunes. I don’t get the hype for Mimicrying, tho. It does NOT capture that 2060s sound, I don’t know why people are saying it does!
ANYWAY THE DRAMA. The yearly Lammie awards were being given out, and it was a huge event that’s a big honour to be invited to, much less win one. Both Headmaster Waterdumple and Riabi won certain awards— HW for the ”Mumblecenter” album they put out earlier in 2098, while Riabi won for her work writing Mimicrying.
At the event there was an interaction between Riabi and Waterdumple, something happened that led to Riabi (accidentally or not) dropping her ENTIRE GLASS OF WATER all over Waterdumple’s head. Now, despite the name, Waterdumple’s chassis at the time wasn’t cleared for waterproofing, so it could’ve gone REALLY BAD if the water had gotten anywhere vital!!! HE COULD HAVE DIED!!!
A lot of people are claiming it was an accident (I’m pretty sure it was), but some are saying otherwise: it was REVENGE Riabi was taking after Waterdumple talked shit on Taylor Xanthene, who Riabi is close friends with. Some people compared HW’s album ”Repairgone Octagon(e)” (their foray into popbust groove) to Taylor Xanthene’s works, especially the album ”Summer Has Come & Gone” as well as the song Rainbow Dress which is not only the most insane comparison I’ve ever heard but also the most insane song I’ve ever heard. It’s a really bad song. It sounds NOTHING LIKE HW??? HW IS LITERALLY DATING I THINK??
Anyway, Waterdumple hated the comparison a lot, and kind of disparaged Taylor Xanthene in one of the interviews leading up to the Lammies. Some people think that’s why Riabi might have dropped the water on purpose, to defend Taylor Xanthene’s honour, or something????? I don’t quite see the angle, but maybe…
Riabi publicly apologized on Heartbeet a few days ago, and HW hasn’t said anything about it, so I’m gonna assume everything is chill for now? We’ll have to wait and see.
EDIT: Riabi recently featured on the album ”god’s favourite” on the song One / Three Byyye so it’s safe to assume everything is fine. Not sure why everyone went conspiracy theory mode over this.
